You dress yourself up in so many disguises,
Saying how well you are caring for me, how well you are protecting and shielding me.
And each sincere sentence slices off another sliver of me.
Wearing that smiling mask of care and concern, you advise ...
Don’t do that, do this.
Play by the rules.
Be good and reliable and predictable.
Don’t show who you really are,
They’ll only snigger behind their hands at how boring you are
Keep pretending ... its better that way.
